LexEnergy has introduced smart ultra-fast charging at Asecs Shopping Center in Jönköping, in collaboration with Alecta Fastigheter. The installation includes eight charging points with charging power of up to 400 kW each, making it easier for visitors to charge quickly and conveniently while shopping, dining or using the services available at the center.
The solution also includes an integrated battery energy storage system of 824 kWh, designed to support both the charging operation and the property’s energy optimization over time.
Asecs is one of Jönköping’s leading shopping destinations, with more than 5 million visitors every year and over 100 shops, restaurants and service providers. Centrally located by the E4, Asecs is a natural stop for local visitors, commuters and people travelling through the region.
Ultra-fast charging with integrated energy storage
LexEnergy’s LexHub combines ultra-fast charging, integrated battery storage and smart energy management in one solution. The system is designed to enable high-power charging in locations where grid capacity, power peaks and energy optimization are important factors.
At Asecs, the integrated battery energy storage system supports the ultra-fast charging operation while also enabling smarter use of energy at the property over time. The solution is designed to support functions such as peak shaving, energy optimization and flexibility services, including ancillary services to the grid.
This means that the charging infrastructure can play a broader role than charging alone. It can support the visitor offering while also becoming part of the property’s long-term energy strategy.
Charging as part of the visitor offering
As electric mobility continues to grow, charging infrastructure is becoming an increasingly natural part of commercial properties and high-traffic destinations. For shopping centers, it adds a relevant service for visitors and supports a smoother everyday charging experience.
Visitors use Asecs in different ways. Some stay for longer visits, while others stop for shorter errands or pass through the area while travelling along the E4. By offering ultra-fast charging, Asecs provides an additional service to visitors who want to charge efficiently while spending time at the center.
“We are proud to launch this initiative as part of our strategy to operate sustainable shopping centres and mobility solutions. It will improve customer experience for visitors driving electric vehicles while also optimizing our energy efficiency. This investment strengthens Asecs as a modern and accessible destination, both for local visitors and for people travelling through the region”, — says Tobias Rönnberg Halvorsen, Head of Retail at Alecta Fastigheter
LexEnergy on charging as part of smarter energy infrastructure
“Ultra-fast charging is no longer only about charging cars. When combined with battery storage and smart energy management, it can also support more efficient energy use, reduce power peaks and enable flexibility services. Asecs is a strong example of how charging infrastructure can become part of a broader energy solution for commercial properties,” — says Matilda Thorsell, CEO and Founder at LexEnergy.
Supporting the next phase of commercial real estate
Commercial properties and high-traffic destinations are well positioned to support the transition to electric mobility. They are already part of people’s everyday movement patterns and can make fast charging more accessible where people naturally spend time.
At Asecs Shopping Center, LexEnergy’s solution contributes to a stronger visitor offering while also supporting smarter energy management at the property. By combining ultra-fast charging, integrated battery storage, energy optimization and flexibility services, the installation shows how charging infrastructure can become an active part of the property’s broader energy strategy.
